Privacy Policy
What we collect, why, and what we will never do with it.
Last updated: 4 September 2026
The short version
- We do not sell your information. Not to anyone, not ever.
- We do not run advertising and we do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
- There are no tracking scripts on this website. No analytics, no tag manager, no advertising pixels, no social media trackers.
- Your music library stays yours. QSYNC apps read your collection on your own hardware.
- We ask for as little as we can: an email address to hold your licences, and the technical details needed to make them work.
Who we are
QSYNC is QSYNC PTY LTD (ABN 89 698 760 986), an Australian company. We make music-first software: the QSYNC Media Player, Remote Control, Music Tagger and related services. In this policy "we", "us" and "our" mean QSYNC Software, and "you" means anyone who uses our website, apps or services.
If you have a question about privacy, or want to exercise any of the rights below, write to privacy@qsync.info.
What we collect
When you create an account
- Your email address, and whether you have confirmed it.
- Your country and state or province, if you give them. These are optional.
- Your preferred currency, so prices are shown in money you recognise.
- A display name or username, if you choose one.
- The IP address you registered from, and when. We keep this to tell genuine customers apart from automated sign-ups, and because it tells us roughly where someone is when they have not told us their country.
When you activate a licence on a device
- A device fingerprint: a value derived from the device so a licence can be tied to it. It does not identify you personally and we cannot use it to find your device.
- The platform and app version, so support can tell what you are running.
- When the device was first and last seen, and the IP address it was last seen from.
This is what makes a licence work across your devices, and what lets you move one to a new machine. Without it we cannot tell your devices apart.
When you buy something
- A record of what you bought and when, and a reference number from the payment provider.
- We never see or store your card details. Card numbers go directly to the payment provider and never reach our systems.
If you use Social or Seminar features
- Your username and display name, so other people can find you.
- Who you have connected with, and anyone you have blocked.
- Seminar invitations you have been sent, and whether you accepted.
- Whether you have opted in to receive seminar invitations. This is off unless you turn it on.
When you contact us
Whatever you choose to tell us, so we can help. We keep support conversations so the next person you speak to does not make you start again.
What we do NOT collect
Worth saying plainly, because other companies in this field do collect these:
- We never receive a list of your music. QSYNC apps scan and identify your collection on your own hardware. Your library is not uploaded to us.
- We do not keep a history of what you played, or when, or how often.
- We do not use artificial intelligence on your library, your listening or your account. The one place AI is used is answering a support message you send us, and it is described under "Support and AI" below.
- We do not build a profile of you for advertising or for sale.
- We do not track you across other websites.
Why we use it
- To give you the software and licences you asked for, and to keep them working.
- To confirm your email address and let you sign in.
- To answer you when you contact support.
- To tell you about things that matter to your licence, such as an important update.
- To detect and stop fraud and licence abuse.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We send marketing email only if you have asked for it, and every one has an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing never affects your licences or your ability to get support.
Who else touches your information
We do not share your information with anyone for their own purposes. We do not sell it. We never will.
We do use a small number of suppliers to run the service, in the same way any software company does. They act only on our instructions, may not use your information for anything of their own, and are bound by contract:
- Microsoft Azure hosts our services and database, and sends our email. Your account information is stored there.
- Cloudflare sits in front of this website to serve it quickly and to keep it up.
- Our payment provider handles purchases and holds the card details we never see.
- Anthropic provides the AI that drafts support answers, and receives only the text of a support message you send us. See "Support and AI" below.
That list is deliberately short, and we would rather keep it that way. If it ever changes we will say so here.
The only other times your information leaves us are when the law requires it, or if the business is ever sold, in which case it stays subject to this policy.
Support and AI
When you send us a support message, we use an AI assistant to draft a first answer from our own published help articles. It is the only use of AI anywhere in QSYNC.
What is sent: the product you asked about, your subject line, the words you typed, and the help articles we think are relevant. What is not sent: your name, your email address, your account, your licence keys, or anything about your music.
The assistant is instructed to answer only from those help articles and to hand the message to a person when they do not cover it. Every answer is ours: if it cannot help, a human replies.
Our AI supplier is Anthropic. Like our other suppliers they act only on our instructions and are contractually barred from using your message to train their models or for any purpose of their own. If you would rather not have AI read your message, say so in it, or ask for a human, and a person will answer instead.
Cookies
This website sets one cookie. It remembers the currency you chose so prices stay in that currency on your next visit. It lasts a year, it contains nothing but a three-letter currency code, and it does not identify you.
There are no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies and no third-party trackers on this site. If you block cookies, everything still works; you will just have to pick your currency again.
Where your information is held
Our services run in Microsoft Azure data centres, currently in the United States and Australia. If you are outside those countries, your information is transferred there so we can provide the service. We rely on contractual protections with our suppliers when it moves.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and licence records for as long as you have an account with us, because a perpetual licence is a promise we have to be able to honour years later. Sign-in codes and links expire within 24 hours. Support conversations are kept while they are useful and then deleted.
Ask us to delete your account and we will, subject to records we are legally required to keep, such as records of sale.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your information;
- stop sending you marketing.
Write to privacy@qsync.info. We will answer within 30 days. We will never charge you for asking, and we will never treat you differently for having asked.
Australia
We handle personal information under the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
United Kingdom and Europe
Under the UK and EU GDPR you also have the right to object to or restrict how we use your information, to receive it in a portable form, and to withdraw consent at any time. Our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (providing the software and licences), our legitimate interests (keeping the service secure and working), your consent (marketing, seminar invitations), and legal obligation. You may complain to your national data protection authority.
California
Under the CCPA you have the right to know, delete and correct, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We have not sold or shared personal information in the preceding twelve months, and we do not do so. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information beyond providing the service you asked for.
Canada
We handle personal information in line with PIPEDA. You may access and correct your information and withdraw consent, and you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
QSYNC is not sold to or aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, tell us and we will delete it.
Security
Your information is held in access-controlled systems, and it travels encrypted. Sign-in uses a link or code sent to your email address, so there is no password of yours for us to lose. No system is perfect, and we will tell you and the relevant regulator if something goes wrong in a way that affects you.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change matters to you, we will tell you by email or on this site before it takes effect.
